COVID-19 Courage

DMU student launches program to support healthcare workers on COVID-19 front lines

Sydney Stanley started the Des Moines Childcare and Household Management Resource Network, with a goal to assist all individuals within the Polk County medical community (MD, DO, PA, PT, NP, RN, LPN, PharmD, Med Tech, Custodian, etc.) with household and childcare tasks. The Des Moines University student volunteers are providing childcare/baby-sitting, pet-sitting and grocery shopping, and meal prepping for medical personnel and their respective households. Students from all eight of DMU’s graduate programs are signing up to volunteer their time to support these health care professionals working on the front-lines of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Sydney is an osteopathic medical student in our College of Osteopathic Medicine. She is her 2nd year of medical school and is also the Class Student Government President. Sydney is from Rapid City, South Dakota and is hoping to enter into the Surgical Specialty when she graduates in May of 2022. DMU, a medical and health science school and clinic, has been part of the Ingersoll-Grand neighborhood since 1972, and part of Des Moines since 1898.
