Zzz Records has been selling new & used records, tapes, and CDs since 2000 making it Iowa’s longest running independent record store!

Zzz found its home at 2200 Ingersoll Avenue 15 years ago and hope to stay for many more, said owner Nate Niceswanger. He describes his shop as an “old-fashioned record store.”

“With the resurgent interest in vinyl records, we seem to have a very diverse crowd,” said Niceswanger. “We count teenagers and senior citizens as our regular customers, as well as everyone in between.”

What kind of records or CDs can you find at Zzz? “We try to cover many different genres of music, so I feel that almost everyone who walks in can find something of interest!” said Niceswanger.

Zzz is open daily and hosts occasional sidewalk sales along Ingersoll Avenue. Mark your calendars for Record Store Day on April 20 – a worldwide celebration of independent record shops that often draws big crowds.

1 question for Zzz Records:

Q: What’s your favorite part about doing business on The Avenues?
A: I love the mix of retail, offices, and restaurants found along both Grand and Ingersoll. I walk around the neighborhood often, and am always pleasantly surprised by how it feels vibrant, but never too crowded.
