On May 5th, the city of Des Moines will plant 150 new trees along Grand Avenue.
Damaged trees along the avenue have been removed and the next steps to restore the canopy along Grand can begin.
The first part of the project will begin in May as trees will be planted from MLK to 28th Street. This Fall, planting will continue all the way up to 42nd Street.
Volunteers from Trees Forever Tree Keepers will be helping plant the trees that in 20-50 years will restore the canopy over Grand Avenue.
