Tucked in the backyard of a chartreuse bungalow in the North of Grand neighborhood you’ll find the Tickled Turquoise tiny shop. Owner and designer Misty Oetker has operated the business out of her home for the past 15 years but built the shop last year.
“It is bursting with joyful art that I create with layers of colored card stock and an imagination that doesn’t quit!” said Oetker.
Right now the shop is stocked with “a lot of things to help you cozy up your home for fall” and soon it will filled with winter and Christmas decor.
Oetker invites the public to Tickled Turquoise for a series of Open House events this fall and winter!
Fall Open House:
- October 7, 8, 9: 10 a.m.–5 p.m. daily
- October 14, 15, 16: 10 a.m.–5 p.m. daily

Q: What’s your favorite part about living and having your tiny shop on The Avenues?
A: The neighborhoods are historical districts, and the houses are all so different and unique. I love the charm and character of the area, the history and the diversity of the people. I feel like it’s a place where people can be themselves. The Avenues and the entire area would be just like anyplace else if it weren’t for the acceptance of all our eccentricities.
