There are no shortage of great options along The Avenues of Ingersoll & Grand – from locally-roasted beans to signature lattes to Asian inspiration – to grab your cup of joe. The next time you’re in the district, stop into an old favorite or perhaps discover your new favorite coffee shop.
1. Zanzibar’s Coffee Adventure
2723 Ingersoll Ave
What makes it unique: Easily recognized by the coffee cup light on the roof, Zanzibar’s has been locally owned and operated since 1993. There is rotating art by featured artists on display in the coffee shop, along with a large selection of coffee beans for purchase.
What to get: Black coffee – hot or iced, add cream and sugar for sweetness if desired. Why? Zanzibar’s roasts their beans in-house, making their coffee fresh to taste.
2. Chain & Spoke
515 28th St, Unit 102
What makes it unique: Chain & Spoke is Iowa’s only coffee shop and cyclery! Their fun logo of a coffee cup riding a bicycle makes for great merch. They feature coffee locally roasted by Pammel Park Coffee Co.
What to get: Maple Cinnamon Latte – hot or iced. Their signature drink. It is an oat latte with cinnamon-infused maple syrup and maple sugar.
3. Nadia’s French Bakery
2705 Grand Ave

4. Crème
543 28th St.
What makes it unique: It is Des Moines’ first Asian-inspired bakery, serving Asian-inspired desserts and café beverages. Crème also offers cocktails all day and often hosts game nights during “midnight munchies” (6 PM-midnight).
What to get: Pair a hot Americano (or an espresso martini 😉) with their famous milk bread cinnamon rolls.
5. Zenko Tea

What to get: Try pairing their “In Love Coffee” with a croffle of your choosing.
6. Chocolaterie Stam
