Shopping, dining, trolley rides, ice carving, Santa & more!

Celebrate the season with your favorite local businesses on The Avenues of Ingersoll & Grand and the Roosevelt Cultural District.

The Peppermint Trail, presented by Veridian Credit Union, returns on Saturday, December 13, with shopping and dining specials happening all day at local shops and restaurants, plus a line-up of holiday festivities, including trolley rides, ice carving, photos with Santa, carolers, and more!

“We hope that The Peppermint Trail reminds community members to think about our local businesses first for holiday shopping, dining and celebration,” said Lauren Kollauf, executive director of The Avenues of Ingersoll & Grand. This is the fourth year of The Peppermint Trail. “We are excited to continue growing our cherished holiday tradition!”

Each business that has signed up to be a stop on The Peppermint Trail will have special holiday offerings so that customers can join the fun throughout the day and evening. All participating businesses and their specials are listed on The Peppermint Trail website.

“Veridian Credit Union wants to give back this holiday season in more ways than one,” said Leticia Garcia, Veridian’s Ingersoll Branch Manager. “We are excited to sponsor The Peppermint Trail as it is a fun time to get together as a community to enjoy holiday festivities and support local businesses.”

In addition to shopping and dining specials, there are many free holiday activities happening throughout the day, including:

  • The “Bee-Merry-Line” trolley will travel on a loop from 12–4 p.m. with multiple stops along Ingersoll Avenue and at the Shops At Roosevelt. See a route map.
  • Santa Claus will be visiting Ingersoll Avenue! You can pose for a complimentary photo with him at Chocolaterie Stam (2814 Ingersoll) from 9–11 a.m. or catch him on the street from 11 a.m.–1 p.m.
  • See ice carving in action by local sculptor Bill Gordish from 12–2 p.m. on the Palmer’s Deli patio (2843 Ingersoll). Inside Palmer’s Deli, kids can enjoy free cookie decorating.
  • Vote for your favorite gingerbread house, all decorated by local businesses, at Crème (543 28th St.) from 11 a.m.–4 p.m.
  • Shop from local artists and makers at the “Brilliant Crafts & Wares Fair” at The Yacht Club (2617 Ingersoll) from 11 a.m.–5 p.m.
  • Catch carolers from Roosevelt High School and Greenwood Elementary, donate to Toys for Tots & more! See a full schedule: theavenuesdsm.com/peppermint-trail.

Aside from shopping and dining deals, some businesses are offering special hours and activities for The Peppermint Trail, including face painting, pop-up shops, photo opportunities, and free treats. See a full list here.
