2025 is the Year of the Snake! The Lunar New Year, which begins on January 29, is an important holiday for many Asian cultures including China, Vietnam, Korea, Malaysia, and Singapore. The Lunar New Year symbolizes a fresh start and new outlook – and you can join the celebration on The Avenues too! Here’s where:

Creme

Creme, 543 28th Street, is collaborating with fellow Asian-owned businesses in the community to host a very special Lunar New Year Celebration pop-up event on Saturday, February 1 from 2–6 p.m. You can expect:
  • Milk Buns, in flavors like Char Siu and Red Bean
  • Chinese-style sponge cakes, pandan cupcakes, Year of the Snake cookies
  • Milk Tea Boba and other speciality drinks
  • Dumplings from Dumpling House
  • Temporary tattoos by artist Meanz Ming Chan of Jade Rabbit Studio

Lucky Lotus

Lucky Lotus, 2721 Ingersoll Avenue, will be serving a few symbolic dishes to celebrate the Year of the Snake starting on January 27:

  • Baos
  • Orange Mock Duck/Chicken
  • Lotus Chips with Party Dip
  • Hibiscus Orangeade

“Oranges and tangerines are believed to bring good luck and happiness for the new year,” owner Kevin Chen told dsm magazine. “The color red signifies good fortune, luck and vitality” — hence the bright red hibiscus orangeade.
