Need to find a new hairdresser in Des Moines? The Avenues recently welcomed several new hair and beauty salons, making our district a popular destination for those who enjoy getting pampered. From grunge shags to extensions, Ingersoll has the salon service you are looking for. While this list only includes hair salons, Ingersoll also has many barbershops. Need a day of self-care? Grab a coffee, do some shopping, and spruce up your look at one of these salons.
G Spot Hair Design, 2615 Ingersoll Ave
G Spot Hair Design, owned by Krista Goldsberry, relocated from Iowa City to Des Moines in February 2013. Their services range from classic cuts and color to natural weave extensions and updos, with a specialization in dreadlock installation, styling, and removal.
J Michaels Salon, 2801 Ingersoll Ave
J Michaels has called Ingersoll home since 2013. The salon provides a full menu of hair, lash, and body waxing services, as well as hair extension services, serving men, women, and children.“Not only does J Michaels Salon provide an amazing experience to our guests, we also are passionate about coaching our team and supporting them to have a successful career,” said owner Michelle Ryan.
Salon Bounce, 2928 Ingersoll Ave
Salon Bounce opened on Ingersoll in the summer of 2025. They are an elevated hair salon that specializes in curly hair, calico hair color, and grunge shags. The salon serves all ethnic backgrounds, ages, and gender expressions. “We are one of the first (maybe only?) curly hair salons in Iowa,” said Lindsey Mollenhauer, owner of Salon Bounce. The Salon Bounce building is painted with curls, with curly lights decorating the inside of the salon.
SFORMD is another new hair salon on Ingersoll Avenue. SFORMD by Soma Tawr opened at 3011 Ingersoll Ave in late 2025. Salon services include weaves, sew-ins, and take-downs. Clients can also opt to add layers and curls to their hair.
Ethereal Beauty Lounge, 3200 Ingersoll Ave, Suite D
Ethereal Beauty Lounge opened on Ingersoll in August, 2024. Located in the back of 3200 Ingersoll Ave, the team at Ethereal offers beauty services, including haircutting, hair color, and extensions. They also offer spa services, including facials, waxing, and microdermabrasion, as well as salon retail items. “We work to make our neighborhood even more beautiful!” said owner and stylist Monica Eischeid. “Our guests come from all over the metro to be serviced.”
Axis Salon Studio Des Moines, 3800 Ingersoll Ave
Axis Salon Studio is a studio collective for independent hair stylists. Jenay has been the owner of Axis since 2014 and said one of the reasons she was drawn to the studio was that The Avenues is her favorite neighborhood. Axis has been in our neighborhood for over 20 years. This salon offers a wide range of hair services for men and women, with a specialization in hair loss solutions.
