Founded in 1926, the Junior League of Des Moines (JLDM) is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism and to improving the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers.
The Junior League of Des Moines is a member of the Association of Junior Leagues International (AJLI) which governs 296 Junior Leagues in the United States, Canada, Mexico and Great Britain.
The Junior League of Des Moines has approximately 160 active members and 600 sustaining members. The majority of members fall between the ages of 28 and 36, but new members over 40 are common. Nearly 76% of the membership work outside the home, and a large percentage of those who stay at home are involved in part-time entrepreneurial efforts.
