The Hartford Collective is a new gender-affirming space that offers haircuts and services for all hair types and welcomes clients of all gender identities and expressions. The barber shop and salon is part of the 2323 Grand Avenue building, but find the entrance on the Ingersoll side on the basement level.
“We bring inclusivity, offer diverse services, foster support and empowerment by creating a safe space while bringing community awareness and engagement,” said owner and barber Jay Wendt. The shop opened in September.
The Hartford Collective is hosting a Grand Opening on December 4 from 7-10 pm in their basement event space. There will be food and beverages provided and the shop is partnering with DMARC to highlight the organization’s community impact.
Currently the shop has three team members: Jay, Casey and Reilly … and a shop dog, Helly! The Hartford Collective has several goals including expanding their services, strengthening partnerships in the community and client education.
