Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Iowa has a new home in the neighborhood! BBBSIA recently moved to its youth mentoring center to 2130 Grand Ave in Fall 2024.
“This spacious facility allows BBBSIA to serve more youth and provide a welcoming and engaging space for Littles to bond with their Bigs,” said Nathan Brooks, Agency Brand Ambassador. “Fostering meaningful relationships and promoting personal growth are essential elements of the work we do.”
For more than 56 years, the organization has has continuously dedicated itself to serving youth (Littles), ages 5-24, through professionally supported mentoring relationships with adults (Bigs) in Central Iowa. BBBSIA’s mission is to create and support one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth.
“We invite the community to visit our youth mentoring center and partner with us. There are so many ways to get involved and make a difference,” said Brooks. One way is to sign-up to become a mentor. There are currently more than 200 Littles on the waiting list for a Big. Learn more at www.bbbsia.org/be-a-big.
Another way is to support BBBSIA at one of their upcoming Bowl for Kids Sake fundraising events around the metro in March and April. Find dates, locations and details here.

Q: What’s your favorite part about being part of The Avenues?
A: It is rich with character, small shops, public art and a vibrant dining scene. We recently partnered with Zanzibar’s Coffee Adventure for National Mentoring Month (January).
